Privacy Policy

Veteran Funeral Planning, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.

What We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when using our funeral planner, contacting us, or making a purchase. This may include:

  • First name and contact information (email address, phone number)
  • Military service details (branch of service, veteran or spouse status)
  • Funeral and end-of-life planning preferences (disposition, service wishes, legacy instructions)
  • Insurance application information, where you choose to initiate a quote or policy review
  • Purchase and transaction records from our Memorial Shop

We also automatically collect limited technical data when you visit our site, including IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, and pages visited. This is collected through standard server logs and analytics tools.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and improve the funeral planner and your saved plan
  • Connect you with licensed insurance professionals and preplanning specialists when you request it
  • Respond to inquiries and provide customer support
  • Process Memorial Shop orders and send order confirmations
  • Send service-related communications (e.g., plan save confirmations, updates to your account)
  • Comply with applicable law, insurance regulations, and licensing requirements
  • Analyze usage to improve our tools and content

We do not use your funeral planning preferences or personal information to serve you behavioral advertising.

Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Licensed insurance carriers and partners — only when you actively initiate a quote, application, or policy review through our site
  • Service providers — vendors who help us operate the site (hosting, analytics, email delivery, payment processing) under contractual confidentiality obligations
  • Travel protection partners — if you purchase or inquire about travel protection products (Sepio Guard or similar), relevant information is shared with the underwriting carrier
  • Legal requirements — when required by law, subpoena, or regulatory inquiry; or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or the public
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer to a successor entity under the same privacy obligations

Consent to Be Contacted

By submitting your phone number through our funeral planner, a quote request, or a contact form, you consent to be contacted by Veteran Funeral Planning and its licensed agents by telephone, text message (SMS), and email regarding insurance products, preplanning services, and your request — including through automated dialing systems or prerecorded messages where applicable.

Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. You may revoke consent at any time by replying STOP to a text message, asking a representative to remove you from contact lists, or emailing info@veteranfuneralplanning.com. We honor the National Do Not Call Registry and applicable state do-not-call laws; if you have given us prior express consent, we may contact you notwithstanding your registration until you revoke that consent.

We will not sell your phone number to unaffiliated third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services, comply with our legal and regulatory obligations (including insurance recordkeeping requirements, which in many states require records to be kept for several years), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

When information is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymize it. You may request deletion of your account and planning data at any time, subject to records we are legally required to retain.

Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Sensitive data (including insurance application information) is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to industry-standard protections.

Your funeral planning preferences are stored under your account and are not accessible to other users. You may delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Your Rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations
  • Opt out of certain uses of your data for marketing purposes
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@veteranfuneralplanning.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have additional rights including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To submit a verifiable consumer request, contact us at the address above.

Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@veteranfuneralplanning.com and we will promptly delete it.

Use of the Service

Veteran Funeral Planning provides a free online funeral planning tool, educational resources about VA burial benefits, and access to licensed insurance and preplanning professionals. The service is available to U.S. residents who are veterans, active-duty service members, or their immediate family members.

You agree to use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Provide false or misleading information in your account or planning documents

This website and the funeral planner tool are provided for informational and educational purposes only. Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice, estate planning advice, medical advice, or tax advice. We strongly recommend consulting a licensed attorney, estate planner, or other qualified professional for guidance specific to your situation.

The funeral planner is a tool to help you document and communicate your personal wishes. A completed plan is not a legally binding document and does not replace a will, advance directive, power of attorney, or other legal instrument. Laws governing preplanning documents, funeral arrangements, and advance directives vary by state.

Insurance Products & Referrals

When you request a quote, policy review, or connection to a licensed professional through our site, you are initiating a referral to licensed insurance agents or agencies. All insurance products described or offered through this site are:

  • Subject to underwriting approval by the issuing carrier
  • Offered only in states where we or our partners hold an active license
  • Described in general terms; actual policy terms, benefits, and exclusions are governed by the issued policy documents
  • Not guaranteed to be available to every applicant

Life insurance, preneed funeral insurance, and final expense products mentioned on this site are sold through licensed agents. We may receive compensation when products are purchased through our referral. This compensation does not affect the price you pay or the advice you receive.

Travel protection products (including Sepio Guard) are offered by and underwritten by their respective carriers. Coverage details, exclusions, and pricing are determined by those carriers and are set forth in the applicable policy documents.

VA Benefit Information & Estimates

VA benefit amounts shown on this site are estimates only.Final eligibility and benefit amounts are determined solely by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at the time of need, based on the veteran's service record, discharge status, and applicable regulations. Amounts are subject to change. Veteran Funeral Planning is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an agent of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

We make every effort to keep benefit information current and accurate, but VA policies and payment schedules may change. Always verify current benefit eligibility and amounts directly with the VA or a VA-accredited Veterans Service Officer (VSO).

These links are provided for your convenience and information only.

We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site. A link does not imply our endorsement of that site or its operator. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Veteran Funeral Planning, LLC, its officers, agents, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, reliance on information provided, or the actions of any third-party professional or insurance carrier to whom you are referred.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred dollars ($100), whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations on liability. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
